Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Kinbite collects, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.

Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective June 17, 2026. Recursive Visions, LLC, operating the Kinbite service, provides a family recipe preservation app for saving recipes, stories, photos, scans, voice recordings, meal plans, grocery lists, and shared cookbook activity.

Questions or privacy requests can be sent to privacy@kinbite.com. Support requests can be sent to support@kinbite.com.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use Kinbite, and limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

  • Account and profile information, such as name, email address, avatar, sign-in identifiers, measurement preferences, onboarding state, and subscription status.
  • Family recipe content, including recipe titles, ingredients, instructions, descriptions, stories, attribution names, memorial dates, dietary tags, comments, likes, feed posts, cookbook titles, member roles, invitations, grocery lists, meal plans, and cooking timelines.
  • Media and voice content, including profile images, cookbook covers, recipe photos, original recipe card scans, feed photos, voice recordings, generated transcripts, step-level audio clips, captions, file names, content types, sizes, and upload metadata.
  • Sharing information, including cookbook invitation emails, invite links, recipe share links, access requests, and limited recipe previews shown to recipients of shared recipe links.
  • Billing information processed by Stripe, such as customer IDs, subscription IDs, plan, billing interval, renewal/cancellation status, and gift recipient email. We do not store complete payment card numbers.
  • Usage, diagnostics, and device information, such as pageviews, feature events, errors, log metadata, browser/device details, IP-derived technical information, and session replay data when you consent to replay.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide, protect, maintain, and improve Kinbite.

  • Create and manage accounts, authentication, subscriptions, and shared cookbook memberships.
  • Store and display recipes, photos, scans, voice recordings, transcripts, comments, feed posts, grocery lists, meal plans, and timelines.
  • Generate recipe data from uploaded scans, full voice-to-recipe recordings, dictated step audio, transcripts, or recipe URLs when you choose AI-assisted features.
  • Send cookbook invitations, service messages, billing flows, and support responses.
  • Enforce plan limits, storage limits, metered AI usage, security controls, and acceptable-use rules.
  • Diagnose errors, understand product usage, improve performance, and prevent abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Service.

AI And Transcription Processing

When you choose AI-assisted features, Kinbite may send the content needed for that feature to third-party processors. For example, full voice-to-recipe recordings and step dictation audio may be sent to AssemblyAI for transcription, and full voice-to-recipe transcripts may be sent to the paid Google Gemini API to extract structured recipe data. Saved recipe voice recordings may also be transcribed when transcription or step timing is part of the feature. Scanned recipe cards, recipe photos used for scanning, URL-imported page text, and ingredient text may also be sent to the paid Google Gemini API for extraction or normalization.

We use paid API accounts for these services and do not intentionally route customer recipe, voice, or family content through unpaid consumer AI tools. We do not use your family content to train our own general-purpose AI models. Third-party AI providers process submitted content as service providers under their own API/service terms.

Only submit voice, photo, scan, or story content that you have the right to upload and process. AI and transcription output can be incomplete or inaccurate, so you should review generated recipes, ingredients, instructions, transcripts, timing, allergen, and dietary information before relying on it.

Sharing And Visibility

Kinbite is private by default, but it includes collaboration and sharing features that you control.

  • Personal recipes are visible to you unless you add them to a shared cookbook or create a share link.
  • Recipes, photos, scans, voice recordings, feed posts, comments, and member activity inside a shared cookbook are visible to members of that cookbook according to their role.
  • Cookbook invitations and invite links may allow recipients to join a cookbook with the role selected by the inviter.
  • Recipe share links can show a limited preview to anyone with the link and, depending on the owner's settings, can allow signed-in recipients to view a recipe-only page. Owners may choose whether to include original scans or voice recordings in that shared view.
  • Recipients, cookbook members, or people you share with may save, screenshot, copy, export, or further disclose content outside Kinbite. We cannot control what they do with content after they receive access.

Third-Party Services

We use vendors and processors to operate Kinbite. They may process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own contracts and policies.

  • Clerk for authentication, account sessions, profile sync, and related security services.
  • Convex for backend database, real-time application functions, file metadata, and server-side application logic.
  • Cloudflare, including Cloudflare R2, for hosting, object storage, security, and delivery of uploaded media.
  • AssemblyAI for voice transcription and transcription webhooks.
  • Google Gemini API for recipe extraction, image understanding, transcript processing, URL import extraction, and ingredient normalization.
  • Stripe for checkout, billing portal, subscription management, invoices, payment processing, and gift subscription checkout.
  • Resend for invitation and transactional email delivery.
  • PostHog for analytics, product events, pageviews, and usage measurement when analytics consent is granted.
  • Sentry for error reporting, performance diagnostics, and session replay when replay consent is granted.
  • Google Fonts for loading public web fonts used by the site.

Cookies, Local Storage, And Tracking

We use essential cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for sign-in, security, user preferences, service-worker caching, and remembering privacy choices. With your permission, we also use analytics and session replay technologies.

You can manage analytics and replay choices from the Cookie Policy page. Essential authentication and security technologies cannot be disabled because they are required for Kinbite to work.

Retention And Deletion

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Kinbite, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Family content generally remains available while an account, recipe, cookbook, or shared object is active.

Some records have shorter operational periods. For example, upload links are temporary, pending upload records expire, and cookbook invitations expire according to the product settings. Logs, analytics, error reports, and provider records may follow separate retention periods set by us or our vendors.

If you delete a recipe, cookbook content, media, recording, comment, or account, we delete or de-identify active records we control within a reasonable time, except where we need to retain information for security, legal, billing, backup, dispute, or abuse-prevention reasons. Content already exported, copied, screenshotted, or shared with others may remain outside our control.

Your Choices And Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or opt-out of certain processing. You can update some information in your profile and can export recipes from the product.

To make a privacy request, email privacy@kinbite.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights required by law.

If you are in California or another jurisdiction with consumer privacy laws, you may have additional rights regarding personal information. Kinbite does not sell personal information for money. We also do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, but analytics/replay vendors may use cookies or similar technologies when you consent.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access, role-based permissions, signed media URLs, webhook verification, upload validation, security headers, and vendor controls. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, so please use a strong account password or sign-in method and protect shared links.

Children

Kinbite is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts or submit personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to Kinbite, contact privacy@kinbite.com so we can take appropriate action.

International Use

Kinbite is operated from the United States. If you use Kinbite from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Kinbite changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
